A Glass of Water or a Lake

a lake

Once an unhappy young man came to an older man and told him he had a very sad life of pain and asked for a solution.

The old man instructed the unhappy young man to put a handful of salt in a glass of water and then to drink it.

How does it taste?” – the old man asked.

Terrible.” – spat the young man.

The old man laughed and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and put it in the lake. The two walked to a nearby lake and when the young man swirled his handful of salt into the lake.

The old man said, “Now drink from the lake.”

As the young man reached his hand into the water to drink, the old man asked, “How does it taste?”

Good!” – remarked the young man.

Do you taste the salt?” – asked the old man.

No.” – said the young man.

The old man sat beside this troubled young man, and said. “The pain of life is pure salt; no more, no less. The amount of pain in life remains the same, exactly the same. But the amount to which we taste the “pain” depends on the container we put it into. So when you are in pain, the only thing you can do is to enlarge your sense of things. Stop being a glass. Become a lake.”

A Short Story on Confidence

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out.

Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said.

After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller.”

And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around. It was his newfound confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

Where is your confidence? Find your confidence in God!

Rom 8:31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

1 Jn 5:14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:…

Heb 10:35Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.”

Heb 3:14For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;…

2 Thess 3:4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.”

Eph 3:12In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.”

Mk 11:22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.”

JEREMIAH 17:5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”

JEREMIAH 17:7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”

Poisoning Mother-In-Law

A long time ago in China, a girl named Li-Li got married and went to live with her husband and mother-in-law.

In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldn’t get along with her mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in-law’s habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li constantly.

Days passed days, and weeks passed weeks. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting. But what made the situation even worse was that, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow to her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing the poor husband great distress.

Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-law’s bad temper and dictatorship any longer, and she decided to do something about it.

Li-Li went to see her father’s good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs. She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all. Mr. Huang thought for a while, and finally said, “Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you.”

Li-Li said, “Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do.” Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs.

He told Li-Li, “You can’t use a quick-acting poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people to become suspicious. Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspects you when she dies, you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her. Don’t argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen.”

Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother-in-law.

Weeks went by, months went by, and every other day, Li-Li served the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper, obeyed her mother-in-law, and treated her like her own mother. After six months had passed, the whole household had changed.

Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn’t had an argument in six months with her mother-in-law, who now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with.

The mother-in-law’s attitude toward Li-Li changed, and she began to love Li-Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best daughter-in-law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter.

Li-Li’s husband was very happy to see what was happening.

One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again. She said, “Mr. Huang, please help me to stop the poison from killing my mother-in-law! She’s changed into such a nice woman, and I love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her.”

Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. “Li-Li, there’s nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her.”

Moral of the story?

What you want changed about others is easy;…..but something must change in you first. We often find so many faults with other people, but in reality we just cannot cope with the differences in people. We are always comparing ourselves with one another- this is not wise. So many times we pray that God would change people around us. Why? Why would we need them to change to conform to our ways? Remember, the one who complains the most has the problem. The first one who speaks loses.

Instead, pray and desire change in you. People are not your problem; how you handle them is.  If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change. Love one another!

So, you have already read part 1. Did you agree with all you read on part 1? Did it seem reasonable? If so, you may already be on the right track. But acting like this is different than walking in it, breathing it, and allowing the true change in your life to come from within, from God’s power working in your life.

We all have the capacity to do the right things, but not everyone has the power to walk in it constantly, or that our deeds will impact others with God’s love and power for living. If you even half agree with part 1, then look at part 2, again with new eyes, with the assumption that you need more than just to act or behave in a good way, but that you need God’s power in your life to walk in it consistently and that it counts for more than a deed but a true life changing impact on people’s life. Maybe there is something missing in your life; God! It’s He who can change you. We cannot change ourselves. We can change somethings about ourselves, but not consistently.

If you agree with what I wrote in part one, then why not get committed to the real source of all good, all power, and certainly all love. In order to love others efficiently in our lives and around us, we need to be in contact with where love comes from; Who love truly is; God Almighty, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Let this be your invitation to call upon Him and not only stay the path, but walk with the One Who created the path. You have a choice. I hope you choose the right one. People all around you are people you don’t even know. May be they’re waiting on you to make the right choice. Choose the Lord today. And everything else that needs to change, will come with little or no effort. You’re carrying around someone’s miracle; choose the Lord and unlock that power- Jesus is still the key!

Now, read this again, and see it from a Biblical point of view. If you forgot what part one said it’s posted here again.

1. Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

2 Cor 10:12- “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

2. Don’t have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment. Phil 4:8- “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

3. Don’t over do; keep your limits.

Prov 3:24- “When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.”

4. Don’t take yourself so seriously; no one else does.

Rom 12:3- “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

5. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.
1 Pet 4:15- “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.”

2 Cor 12:20- “For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:…

6. Dream more while you are awake.

Col 3:2- “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

Jas 3:16- “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

Phil 4:19- “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

8. Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.

2 Tim 3:3- “Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,..

Jn 7:24- “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Phil 3:14- “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Lk 9:62- “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

9. Life is too exciting to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.
1 Jn 3:15- “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”

10. Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
Rom 12:18- “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
Prov 16:20- “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.”

Ps 146:5- “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:..

12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

1 Pet 1:7 – “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:..

1 Peter 4:12-19- “12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: (13) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (14) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. (15) But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. (16) Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. (17) For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (18) And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (19) Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”

13. Smile and laugh more.
Lk 6:21- “Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

Ps 126:2- “Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.”

14. Don’t argue.
1 Thess 5:21- “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”
Ephesians 5:6-17- (6) “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (7) Be not ye therefore partakers with them. (8) For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (9) (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) (10) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. (11) And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. (12) For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. (13) But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. (14) Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. (15) See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, (16) Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

15. Call your family often.

1 Tim 5:8- “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

1 Tim 5:4- “But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.”

16. Each day give something good to others.

Mt 19:21- “Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”

Lk 6:38- “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

Mk 11:25- And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Eph 4:32-“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

18. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6 .

James 1:27- “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

Mk 10:14- “But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”

19. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

Gal 6:10- “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

James 4:17-“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

20. What other people think of you is none of your business.
1 Pet 4:4- “Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:..”

21. Your job will not take care of you when you.
Mt 6:33- “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

22. Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do.
Mt 22:37- “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

1 Cor 10:31-“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

23. GOD heals everything.

Acts 10:38- “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

Prov 4:20-23- “(20) My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. (21) Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.  (22) For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (23) Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24. Do the right things.
1 Timothy 5 (whole Chapter)

Eph 5:10- “Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.”

Rom 12:1-2-” (1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

25. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
Jude 1:20-22- (20) But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (21) Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (22) And of some have compassion, making a difference:..

26. The best is yet to come.
1 Cor 2:9- “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

27. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

Ephesians 4:22-32- “(22) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; (23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (25) Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. (26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: (27) Neither give place to the devil. (28) Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. (29) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (30) And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (31) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: (32) And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Colossians 3:5-10- (5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: (6) For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: (7 ) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. (8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. (9 ) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; (10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:..

28. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.

Jn 14:6-“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Gal 2:20-” I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

1 Tim 6:12-” Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Jn 12:25- “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

29. If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy.

Ps 33:12-“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”
1 Pet 3:10-” For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:..
Heb 8:11- “And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
1 Peter 3:8 -17- “(8 ) Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
(9 ) Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. (10) For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: (11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. (12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (13) And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? (14) But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; (15) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (16) Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. (17) For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.”

My Dad Can See

You’re going to like this one!

There was a skinny young boy who loved football with all his heart. Practice after practice, he eagerly gave everything he had. But being half the size of the boys, he got absolutely nowhere. At all the games this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever played. This teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very special relationship. Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering.

He never missed a game. This young man was still the smallest of the
class when he entered high school. But his father continued to encourage him but also made it very clear that he did not have to play football if he didn’t want to. But the young man loved football and decided to hang in there. He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he’d get to play when he became a senior. All through high school he never missed a practice nor a game, but remained a bench warmer all four years.

His faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of
encouragement for him. When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a “walk-in.” Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul into every practice, and at the same time, provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed.

The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. His father shared his excitement and was sent reason tickets for all the college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at college, but he never got to play in a game. It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and he became deathly silent.

Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, “My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?”

The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, “Take the
rest of the week off, son. And don’t even plan to come back to the game on Saturday.”

Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter,
when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful team mate back so soon.

Coach, please let me play. I’ve just got to play today,” said the young

The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his
worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. “All right,” he said. “You can go in.”

Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked, and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His team mates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you never heard.

Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said, “Kid, I can’t believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you do it?”

He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, “Well, you knew my Dad died, but did you know that he was blind?” The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, “Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!

The Salty Coffee

He met her at a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he was so normal, nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she agreed. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, and she felt uncomfortable, she thought, “Please , I must go home…” suddenly he asked the waiter: “Would you please give me some salt? I’d like to put it in my coffee.”

Everybody stared at him, it was strange! His face turned red, but, still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously: “Why do you put salt in your coffee?” He replied: “When I was a little boy, I was living near the sea , I liked playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, and think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there.”

While saying that, tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched. “That’s his true feelings, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can share his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, has a responsibility to home.” Then she also started to speak, speaking about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story. They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her expectations; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful.

She thought: “He was such a good person but she almost missed him!” Thanks to his salty coffee! Then the story was just like every beautiful love story, the prince married to the princess; they were living the happy life…And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee, as she knew that’s the way he liked it.

After 40 years, he passed away, leaving her a letter; and she found it and it read: “My dearest wife, please forgive me, forgive my whole life a lie. This was the only lie I ever told you—the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt. I don’t know why I said that. It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead. I never thought that could be the start of our communication!”

I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything.. Now I’m dying, I’m afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don’t like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste… But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I’ve never felt sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, I would still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again.” Her tears made the letter totally wet.

Having coffee in a shop later on down the road; she requested salt for her coffee. Someone seeing this asked her: “What’s the taste of salty coffee?” It’s sweet.” She replied.
