To a disciple who complained of his limitations the teacher said, “You are limited indeed. But have you noticed you can do things today that you would have thought impossible fifteen years ago? What changed?”
“My talents changed.”
“No. You changed.”
“Isn’t that the same thing?”
“No. You are what you think you are. When your thinking changed, you changed.”
*We can change, but we need bigger than us to make those changes be consistent in our lives. In truth, we cannot change ourselves. Oh we can change some things, but nothing that will remain steady. Most of us are tossed about to and fro- with no firm foundation. We need to have a firm foundation and peace of mind. That can only come from our eyes and mind looking and thinking on the right and positive things.
God’s Word says it this way:
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
God also said of our thinking:
Prov 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:…”
And that positive change can only come when God changes our hearts. Ask Him, Let Him!
Jn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Jn 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
1 Pet 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
IF YOU CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THINGS, THE THINGS YOU LOOK AT WILL CHANGE
