Everyday Obstacles (Sunday Inspiration)

Exodus 14:31
And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.”

The Israelites terrified….The Lord miraculously made Egyptians release the Israelites from slavery….but something changed; the former masters had changed their minds and were bent on capturing back the departed workers. Mountains on each side, Red Sea in front of them,…Egyptian army rapidly approaching from behind…..the Israelites certainly felt trapped. Have we not felt the same way at one time or another?

All around were obstacles in every direction. Have we found ourselves hemmed by mountains and facing a sea of uncertainty, maybe we are the same right now….an army of debt, poor health,…not able to escape the results of bad decisions,…strained relationships…when these things happen; when our back is against the wall we need to recognize that our human strength and ingenuity is insufficient to bring us through without Greater Help.

As human beings, we see obstacles, but God sees opportunities. Places where, if we so desired of Him,… He can step in and help if only we would set aside our worries and religious dogma and just depend on the ONE True God for deliverance. God is looking to show Himself strong on the behalf of His people (not His people? Click HERE) for His name’s Glory.

In the face of Israel’s issues, Moses said, “…….Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.”(Exodus 14:13)

All too often we try to fix our lives by our own abilities instead of turning to God. When we encounter things that seem too big for us, they probably are; but instead of trying to fix it on our own or being compelled to just give up….we need to stop and pray, reach out to God and ask for help. Sometimes, and most times, we need Someone Bigger than we are.

We don’t need to wait until we face a dire predicament, we can take even our little problems to God. We have many religions in the world, but only One God who can actually help us when we need supernatural help. And, when we find ourselves in a desert experience, we need to allow God to turn those obstacles into opportunities.

Psalms 43:5 “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”

Psalms 60:11 “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.”
