If You Fall (Story)

It’s Sunday…..so here is a story in “of the story..” style:

I recently read a story about a man needing to move some cattle he owned. He needed to move those cows to the opposite end of a pasture to let them start grazing on a new section of grassland. And, this meant that the cows had to cross a waterway. A few calves went first; leaping splashing, tails lifted up with excitement. The more mature ones went through the waterway at the shallow end, it was a well-used crossing…some with more drama and others with less; but they moved along making good headway…it was a show to see!

The last cow however, a skinny one, did fairly well until she got to the opposite side. As she began climbing the bank, she FELL. There she was, with her back feet in the water and her front feet on the slick slope. She made several valiant attempts to go up the slope but she was too weak. NOW WHAT?

Would that little calf slide back down into the water and drown? The owner of the cows thought to himself that there was no way he was strong enough that he could help that little Bessie keep her head out of the water until help could come; cow heads are heavy, especially when attached to a cow. So the cow and that man were both stuck. What a sight!

The moral OF THE STORY? If you’re a Christian, we do not practice sin. But if we stumble, God helps us back up.

Proverbs 24:16 says, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:….

Again, Psalm 37:24 states, “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Because of God, we can say,“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” (Micah 7:8)

But for some, for all really, we need to make a certain “FALL,” and we must fall hard. We need to fall on Jesus! “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken:…….” If we FALL on Him, and let our self-will be broken, we can be assured that He will lift us up to walk in newness of life.

Wondering about that skinny cow? She got out. She trusted the man and gave it her all, all the while, the man held up her head to keep her from drowning. It’s a true story by the way. 😉

2 Peter 1:10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:………”

Have a great and peaceful Sunday. 🙂
